New Information Leads to New Search

As darkness fell Tuesday night in Aruba, authorities ended their search efforts for the day after apparently finding nothing in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway.

Police used two FBI bloodhounds in a new search on a beach near a Marriott Hotel for the missing Alabama teenager. They launched the efforts after receiving information from a former security guard who said one of three youths seen with the missing teenager had lied to police.

Thirty-year-old Antonius John said Deepak Kalpoe told him that he and his 18-year-old brother, Satish, and their 17-year-old Dutch friend never went back to the Holiday Inn the morning of May 30, the day Holloway vanished on the Dutch Caribbean island.

Kalpoe, who is 21, said they dropped the Dutch youth and Holloway off near the Marriott on the same beach. Police cordoned off a three-block area near the hotel.

The Mountain Brook, Ala., teen vanished while on a five-day senior trip with 124 classmates and seven chaperones. Natalee is the daughter of Beth Twitty of Mountain Brook and Dave Holloway of Meridian, Miss.
